We are excited to show how our 16+ Young Achievers, during the weekly club, filled the youth club with rhythm and laughter as they explored the joy of African drumming - connecting culture, confidence, and community through every beat.
It started as a few curious beats and then turned into a full session of music, movement, and teamwork.
Taking turns on the drums, each young person added their own sound to the mix, listening carefully, keeping pace, and encouraging one another to stay in rhythm. The space buzzed with joy and connection as beats blended with dancing and laughter.
Beyond the fun, drumming became a chance to connect with heritage and culture. For many, it sparked pride and curiosity about African rhythms and stories that continue to shape our world today. It also strengthened friendships and built confidence, especially for those who don’t always find it easy to express themselves in words.
These activities lie at the heart of what we do at Touch of Love, creating spaces where young people can explore, belong, and grow together. The sound of the drums may have faded, but the sense of unity and pride they created will stay with us for a long time.
We've spent some weeks taking the young people how to beat the drums and we can never thank our volunteers and staff enough for their support and a big well done to the young people for ther enthusiasm and and confidence to explore the joy of drumming.
